TV designer to redefine perceptions of new-build homes in Perth
28th October 2026
TV interior designer and former 60-Minute Makeover star, John Amabile, has been appointed by Springfield Properties to design two new show homes at Bertha Park Village in Perth, helping to show the character and individuality that can be achieved with a new build home.
The appointment comes as Springfield prepares to unveil two new show homes as part of the latest phase at Bertha Park, which features a brand-new collection of house styles designed for modern living.
The three-bedroom Askernish home and five-bedroom Gleneagles located off Bertha Way, are due to open early next year and will showcase John’s vision for how buyers can create homes that are full of personality, style and individuality from the day they move in.
Drawing inspiration from Scotland’s heritage, the two show homes will each feature a distinct design scheme, demonstrating how homeowners can put their own stamp on Springfield’s latest house styles.
Regional Sales and Marketing Director, Amanda Berry, enlisted John to help bring the vision for the new show homes to life. She said:
“Our current show home has been open since we started selling homes at Bertha Park nearly 10 years ago. With our new house styles, we wanted the show homes to feel every bit as distinctive and inspiring as the homes themselves. John’s designs will showcase the creativity and individuality that can be achieved in a new build home. These show homes will demonstrate how a new build is a blank canvas that allows homeowners to create a space that reflects their own personality, lifestyle and taste.
“Our vision is to create interiors that feel aspirational and achievable, giving visitors ideas and inspiration. We’re very excited to have John on board and looking forward to welcoming customers to the show homes when they’re finished early next year.”
With 40 years’ experience in the interiors industry, including a successful television career and the launch of his own Interior Design School earlier this year, John brings a wealth creativity and skill to the project. He added:
“From the moment Amanda shared her vision for the latest Springfield show homes, I knew I wanted to be involved.
“One of the biggest myths about new build homes is that they all look and feel the same. The reality is that they offer incredible flexibility, whether you love the drama and elegance of period interiors, the warmth and comfort of a country cottage, or a clean and contemporary style, a new build home provides the perfect backdrop for creating a space that is uniquely yours.
“The opportunity to start with a blank canvas is something many homeowners only dream about. My goal is to create two very different interiors that show just how much personality and character a new build home can have - and thankfully, I’ll have a little longer than 60 minutes to do it!”
Bertha Park Village is already home to over 600 families and offers a growing range of amenities, including a locally ran café, convenience store, takeaway, pharmacy, and secondary school. With green spaces, a destination play park and public transport links, the development is already home to a thriving community on the edge of Perth.
A number of three, four and five bedrooms homes are available for sale now with prices starting from £260,500. For more information visit https://www.springfield.co.uk/homes-for-sale/3-perth.
