Alasdair Gardner

Non-Executive Director

Alasdair Gardner

With a wealth of experience in the banking sector, Alasdair joined the Springfield Board as a Non-Executive Director in October 2025.

Having studied in Edinburgh, he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1987 before joining Lloyds Bank in the same year.

During his 36 years with the bank, he worked in a variety of roles, including Managing Director of Commercial Banking between 2009 and 2016, MD of Large Corporates North America between 2016 and 2019 and CEO of Lloyds International Bank until 2023.

It was in his time with Lloyds that Alasdair was involved with the merging of Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Commercial Business in 2009 – something he considers to be an especially proud moment in his career.

Other career highlights include his work with charities to offer support and time to help those in need. In 2009, he helped set up the Bank of Scotland Foundation and also served as a trustee for the LLoyds Channel Islands Foundation and with CrossRoads Scotland Charity.

During his career, Alasdair has consistently helped colleagues to allow them to support many fantastic companies in Scotland and has experience across a vast number of interesting sectors, including Renewable Energy, Oil and Gas, manufacturing, transport, complex transactions and the housing sector. Having previously had responsibility for the housebuilding sector for Lloyds Bank, he understands the need for strong housebuilders for the growth of the UK and Scottish Economy.

He also is a member of the Kelvin Capital Advisory Board, and as a keen golfer, is a member of the Tantallon Golf Club Council.
